If you walk down Krishnappa Tank Street in Sowcarpet, you’ll find Sri J. R. Chauhan & Sons at No. 24/55. It’s a very old and narrow street, and the whole area is always packed with people and carts moving goods. Our shop has been here for a long time. The building is old and a bit worn, but it’s been our home for years. We have shelves that go all the way to the ceiling, and they are usually packed with stock. This is a family business that’s been passed down through a couple of generations now. We don't have any fancy mission statements or corporate goals. We just open up early in the morning and stay until the work is done. The street outside is always noisy and it can get really hot in the summer because there isn’t much of a breeze. We just keep the old table fans running and carry on. We know almost everyone else on the street. It’s a real community here. We don't do any big advertising or have a fancy website. People who need what we sell usually know exactly where to find us. It’s just a traditional way of doing business that’s worked for us for a long time. We keep things simple and honest and focus on the day-to-day tasks.
