Mehta Saree Center

We've been here at 11 Perianaiyakaran Street for a good while now. Sowcarpet is always busy, and our ground floor spot sees a lot of faces coming through the door. It’s just a small place, really. We keep ourselves busy with the sarees. People usually come in looking for something specific for a wedding or just a nice gift, and we try to help them find it among the stacks. The shelves are always full, and sometimes it gets a bit cramped when the new stock arrives, but that’s just how it is here. My family helps out, and we know most of the people on this street by name. It’s noisy outside with the rickshaws and people rushing, but inside we just focus on the fabric. We don't do anything fancy with the decor. It's just counters, some lights, and plenty of sarees to look through. Some days are slower than others, which gives us time to fold everything back up properly. We don't have a big website or anything like that, just this physical shop in the heart of the market. If you're walking down Perianaiyakaran Street, you'll see us right there on the ground floor. It’s a straightforward business. We show what we have, talk a bit with the customers, and hope they find something they like. That’s pretty much the whole story of Mehta Saree Center. We just keep going day by day and try to keep things organized. It's not always easy but we manage.
