Philips Battery Care

We are over here at Sivan Koil Street in Kodambakkam, right across from where the Reliance Mobile used to be or is, depending on how you look at the signs. The shop is at New No. 127, which used to be No. 33 back in the day, but everyone around here just knows the street anyway. Most days it is just us dealing with all kinds of battery issues that people bring in. It gets pretty busy because batteries are one of those things no one thinks about until they stop working. We spend a lot of time checking voltages and looking at terminals. The air in the shop sometimes smells like lead and acid, but you get used to it after a few years of working here. It is not a fancy place by any means. We have got some old benches and tools scattered around where we do the testing. Sometimes people come in frustrated because their car won't start or their inverter is acting up, and we just try to figure out what is wrong without making a big deal out of it. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting heavy casings and getting our hands dirty. The street outside is always noisy with traffic and people heading to the temple nearby. We’ve been in this spot for a while now, watching the shops around us change. We just keep doing what we do with the batteries every morning when we open up.
