Our little office and workspace is at 12 A Jayalakshimi Street in Gandhi Nagar. That’s in the Kilkattalai area of Chennai. It’s a residential-feeling neighborhood, so we try not to be too loud. We’ve been working on the textile side of things for a few years now. We call ourselves Shritex Ecoline, mostly because we try to keep things a bit cleaner than the old-school factories. We aren't some massive eco-warrior company, just some people trying to do textiles a bit differently. The space is a bit tight. We have rolls of fabric tucked into corners and a couple of desks for the bookkeeping. It’s not very polished. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook and other days it’s silent. We don't have a big marketing team or a fancy website. It’s just us answering the door and taking orders. We’ve had to learn a lot as we go along. Chennai can get really hot, so the afternoons in the office can be a bit much, but we keep the fans going. We don't have any big slogans. We just want to get the orders out on time and make sure the fabric is what the person asked for. It’s a small operation, but we put in the hours every single day.
