You can find G. F. Brothers Exim Pvt. Ltd. at No. 3 Sam Avenue in Sembakkam. It’s a decent area, relatively calm for this line of work. We started this because we wanted to handle the exim side of things on our own terms. The office is at number 3, and it’s a pretty basic building. We don’t have any marble floors or big art on the walls. Mostly, it’s just whiteboards with lists of things to do and calendars marked with shipping dates. We spend a lot of time on the computer, checking tracking numbers and sending emails to customs agents. Sembakkam has grown a lot lately, so there’s more traffic on Sam Avenue than there used to be. Sometimes it’s hard for the bigger vans to turn around, but we manage. There are a few of us working here, and we’ve all been friends or family for a long time. It makes the long hours easier when you’re working with people you know. We eat lunch together most days, usually just something brought from home. We aren't a giant corporation with hundreds of employees. We’re just a small team trying to make sure the containers get loaded and the paperwork is correct. If someone calls with a problem, they get to talk to one of us directly, not some machine. That’s just the way we like to run things here at G. F. Brothers.
