About Nat See Arts & Crafts – Art & Craft in Chennai
We are located at 32 V.V. Giri Street in the Sathya Garden area. It’s mostly a quiet residential neighborhood but we have our workshop here where things can get a bit messy. There are usually scraps of paper, bits of fabric, and paint jars sitting on almost every flat surface we have. My hands are usually stained with something or other by lunchtime. We started Nat See Arts & Crafts because we liked making things, and it just grew into a full-time job. Sathya Garden is a nice place to work because it’s not as loud as the main roads, though the neighbors sometimes complain about the smell of glue or the noise of us hammering things. We spend our days cutting, gluing, and painting various items. It’s not always organized and sometimes it takes us a while to find a specific tool under all the clutter. The shop front isn't very large so people sometimes walk right past us if they aren't looking for the number 32. We don’t have a big staff, just a couple of us who know how to handle the materials. In the monsoon, we have to be careful about the dampness because it ruins the crafts, so we spend a lot of time moving boxes away from the walls. It’s a lot of manual labor and our backs usually ache by the end of the shift. Most of our tools are old but they still work fine for what we need.
