About Sahayamatha Yarn & Cloth Emporium – Fashion & Trends in Chennai
Our shop is at No. 18, and it’s been the same for a long time. It’s a bit of a small space, but we have managed to cram a lot of yarn and cloth into every corner. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the smell of fresh fabric and the sight of tall shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling. We keep the yarn bundles sorted by weight and color, though sometimes things get a bit messy when we are busy. Most of our customers are local tailors or ladies from the neighborhood who are looking for something specific for their sewing projects. We don't have a computer system to track everything; we still mostly use a paper ledger and a pen to keep our accounts. It’s just easier that way for us. The counter is made of old wood that has been worn down by years of sliding fabric across it. We don't spend money on fancy lights or decorations because the cloth provides enough color on its own. Often, customers stay for a bit to chat about the local news while we measure out their orders. It’s a slow-paced kind of business, but we like it that way. We aren't looking to become a giant chain or anything. We just want to keep the shelves stocked with good yarn and help the people who walk through our door at No. 18 every day.
