If you head over to the Nagappa Industrial Estate in Madhavaram, you'll find us working away at Rvn Ultra Concrete Ltd. It is a dusty kind of place, which is expected when you're dealing with concrete all day long. We have the mixers going from early morning, and the sound becomes sort of like background noise after a while. The yard is usually full of heavy bags and sand piles that need moving. We spend a lot of time checking the machines to make sure they aren't getting clogged up with dry cement. It’s physical work, and by the end of the shift, everyone is ready to head home. Madhavaram has grown a lot, so there are more trucks on the road than there used to be. Sometimes it's a struggle to get the big vehicles turned around in the estate lanes. We don’t have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just the plant and the small office where the logs are kept. We keep track of the batches by hand mostly. It’s simpler that way and we don't have to worry about the computers acting up. On rainy days, things slow down a bit because the mud makes everything a mess. We just wait it out and clean the equipment. It’s a straightforward life here. We make the concrete, load it up, and see it go out the gate.
