D. S. K Engineering Works

D. S. K Engineering Works is located at No. 682 Pallavaram Road in Gerugambakkam. You can find us right across from the Omega International School. It is usually pretty loud here because of the machines running and the traffic on Pallavaram Road. We have a lot of metal scraps and tools lying around on the workbenches. It might look a bit disorganized to someone walking in, but we have a system for where everything goes. We do a lot of welding and fixing parts that people bring in from the neighborhood. Our clothes are usually covered in grease or iron dust by noon. The floor is concrete and has some oil stains that won't ever come out. We have a small desk in the corner where we keep the ledger and some old pens, but we are rarely sitting there. Most of the time we are on our feet working on a project. Sometimes the school kids walk past and peek inside to see the sparks from the welder. It’s a hot job, especially in the afternoons, so we keep a big water jar near the entrance. We have been at this location for a while now and the locals know us as the place to get things repaired. It’s just honest work with our hands. We don't have a fancy waiting room, just a couple of stools if someone needs to sit. We focus on the metal and making sure the welds are solid. It's hard work but it's okay.
