R P M Engineers (India) Limited has its roots deep in the Thiru-Vi-Ka Industrial Estate. We’re over at plot number 14 in Ekkattuthangal. It’s a part of Chennai that has seen a lot of growth, but this estate still feels like the old industrial heart of the city. Our building is pretty straightforward, just a big workshop space where we handle all the engineering tasks. It’s often hot, and the sound of metal hitting metal is something you hear from the moment we open the doors in the morning. We have a small crew, mostly people who live nearby and have been working in engineering their whole lives. There’s no big marketing team here, just us trying to make sure the orders get out on time. The floor is usually covered in filings and oil, but that’s just part of the job. We don’t really do fancy presentations or anything. If someone needs to see what we do, they usually just walk in and look at the machines. Sometimes we have a bit of trouble with the local traffic when we're trying to ship things out, but we manage. It’s a practical, no-nonsense kind of place. We’ve been here long enough that we don’t need a GPS to find our way around the back alleys of the estate. It's just home for us and our workers. We hope to stay here for many more years.
