S. K. M. Exports

You will find us at No. 20 Krishnappa Street, which is right in the middle of Purasawakam. It is an old neighborhood and the streets are very narrow and crowded. We have been operating out of this same building for many years. Since we are an export business, we spend a lot of our time on the phone or checking the shipping schedules. The ground floor is where we keep all the stock. It is usually full of boxes that are waiting for the courier to come and pick them up. We do not have a fancy office at all. It is just a couple of rooms with old wooden desks and a lot of paper ledgers. Sometimes the rain leaks in a bit near the back door, so we have to move the boxes around to keep them dry. It is just part of being in an older building like this one. We have a small team here and most of us have been working together for a long time. We do not really care about titles or anything like that. We just do whatever work needs to be done. If a truck shows up with a delivery, everyone goes out to help unload it. The neighborhood is always loud with people shouting and bikes going past, but we are used to the noise. We keep our heads down and focus on the work. It is a simple way to run a business and we stay busy.
