Prakash Sarees Private Limited is right on the IV floor of 87, Gandhi Road in Kanchipuram. Kanchipuram is famous for its sarees, as I'm sure most people know, and we are right in the heart of it. Being on the fourth floor means we have a bit of a view of the street below, which is always packed with people and traffic. It’s a busy building with many offices. We spend most of our time dealing with different types of sarees, checking the weaves and the colors for any mistakes. It’s a lot of work but we’ve got a good system for it. The lift in the building is a bit slow, so we end up taking the stairs more often than we’d like, which is good exercise I guess. Our place is more about the actual goods and getting them sorted for the shops. Gandhi Road is always humming with energy, and we are just one part of that big machine. We’ve been here a long time and seen many shops come and go over the decades. We keep a simple routine and try not to get too stressed when big festival seasons come around.
