We have been here on Wuthucattan Street for a good while now. Number 12 is where you can find us, right in the thick of things. It’s a busy spot, mostly filled with the smell of tanned hides and the sound of people working. Our space isn't fancy or anything. There are stacks of leather everywhere you look and benches covered in tools. Most days, the door stays open to catch a breeze, and you’ll see us moving stuff around or checking the grain on a new shipment. We deal with leather every single day, so our hands usually have some ink or scuffs on them. People stop by to ask about different textures or just to see what we’re currently cutting. It gets a bit dusty inside, especially when the fans are going full blast in the summer heat. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing. There is always a lot to keep track of with the different skins coming in and orders going out. Sometimes the coffee gets cold because we're busy sorting through a batch of brown or black hides. It’s just how things go at Popular Leather Company. We aren't trying to be anything we're not. We just like the material we work with and being part of the street here. It’s a practical way to spend the day, surrounded by real materials and local faces coming through the door.
