Down in Periamet, it has always smelled like leather, and Aadhil Leather Exports is right in the thick of it. We’ve been operating out of this specific area because this is really where all the action is for this kind of trade. It’s a bit of a crowded place with lots of narrow streets and people moving fast with wooden carts. We spend most of our days looking at hides, checking the quality, and packing them up for export. It is messy work, to be honest. Your hands get stained and the air feels heavy, but we have grown used to it by now. We don't have a big front office with fancy air conditioning or anything like that. It's mostly just the warehouse floor and a couple of old desks tucked in the corner. We deal with various suppliers and buyers, mostly people we have known for many years. Trust matters a lot in this neighborhood. If we say we have a certain grade of leather, we make sure that’s exactly what goes into the crate. Sometimes shipments get delayed at the port, which is always a big headache, but we just handle it as it comes. It's not a glamorous life, just steady work in an old part of town. We take some pride in knowing our stuff, even if we don't talk about it much. It’s just what we do every day from morning until evening. Periamet is home to us.
