A L Madina Leathers

Wuthucattan Street is a busy place, and finding the right door can be tricky since the numbers changed from Old No. 18 to New No. 37. We are up on the 1st floor of the building. A L Madina Leathers is usually filled with the very specific scent of processed hides and dyes. It’s a smell you get used to after about ten minutes, but visitors always notice it right away. The stairs are made of stone and they are worn down in the middle from years of people walking up and down. We have benches along the walls where we do the sorting. The light comes in through the tall windows, showing all the dust motes dancing in the air. We don't use much fancy equipment here. A lot of what we do involves looking at the leather and feeling the texture with our hands. We have stacks of different colors piled up against the walls. Sometimes a stray cat wanders in from the street and hides among the scraps. We don't mind much as long as they don't get in the way. The workspace is a bit cramped because we have so much stock right now. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, so we keep the windows wide open to catch any breeze from the street. You can hear the vendors calling out their prices from the sidewalk below all day. It’s just us doing our thing.
