Pattikattan Organic Private Limited is tucked away at No. 5/15 on Sabari Street. We are in the Periyar Nagar section of Nesapakkam here in Chennai. It’s a local neighborhood, and most people around here just know us as the organic folks. We don’t have a big staff or a fancy headquarters. It’s just a house-turned-office where we keep our supplies and do our paperwork. Every morning, we start by checking what needs to be delivered and what new stuff has come in. The street is narrow, so it’s a bit of a hassle when the delivery vans come by, but the neighbors are used to it by now. We focus on organic goods because we like the idea of knowing where food comes from. There’s no big corporate strategy here. We just want to provide something decent to the people in our area. Sometimes we sit on the porch and talk to the people walking by. It’s a very relaxed way of doing business, even though there’s always work to be done. We deal with farmers and customers directly, so there’s no middleman making things complicated. It’s just plain talk and honest deals. If we’re busy, we might not answer the door right away, but we’re usually around. It’s a simple life on Sabari Street, and we’re happy to be a part of this community. We keep things going and try not to worry too much about the small stuff.
