Parveen Leather Exports

Parveen Leather Exports is located on 1kuppu Chetty Street in Periamet. If you know this part of town, you know it smells like leather and hard work. Periamet is always crowded with trucks and people moving hides around. Our place is right in the middle of that. We handle a lot of different leather goods meant for places far away. It’s funny thinking about a bag made here ending up in a shop across the ocean. The street is narrow and sometimes the rain makes everything a bit messy. We’ve been at this address for a long time. My uncle used to run things but now it's more of a group effort. We spend a lot of time checking the quality of the skins. If the leather isn't right, the whole batch is ruined. It’s a lot of pressure but we’re used to it by now. The office is small and usually stacked with samples. We don't have fancy air conditioning everywhere so it gets hot. We drink a lot of water and keep the fans going. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know. People come and go all day long. Sometimes we have to shout over the noise of the traffic outside just to hear each other. That’s just life on Kuppu Chetty Street. We just keep our heads down and get the shipments ready on time. It is a lot of physical labor here.
