Nachiar Leather Garments

Nachiar Leather Garments is based at Number 56 Rajamuthiah Road in the Park Town area. We are right near the big stadium so it is always very busy outside our door. We have been working with leather here for many years and it is what we know best. Leather is a difficult material because every piece is a bit different. We spend our time looking for marks or holes and trying to cut the pieces just right. The shop always smells like leather and glue which is something you just get used to. We have a few old sewing machines that have been with us since the start. They make a lot of noise but they still work fine. We aren't a big factory with hundreds of workers. It is just a small team of us who have been doing this for a long time. We don't have a mission statement or anything fancy like that. We just want to make jackets and bags that don't fall apart. Sometimes the leather is hard to find and we have to wait for the right skins to come in. The traffic on the road outside is always loud and there is a lot of dust from the street. We just stay inside and keep our heads down. It is a practical business and we don't try to make it sound like more than it is. We just do the work.
