If you walk down No. 43 Anjaneyar Koil Street in Pallavaram, you’ll find us at Tycoon Leathers. The first thing you notice when you get close is the smell of the hides. It’s a very specific scent that stays on your clothes even after you go home. Our building is right in the middle of everything, and you can hear the bells from the temple nearby throughout the day. Inside, it’s all about the leather. We have big tables where the cutting happens and some older machines that still run better than the new ones. It’s a bit dark inside sometimes because the building is tucked away, but we have enough lights over the work areas. There are pieces of leather scraps on the floor and heavy shears sitting on every bench. We aren't really a corporate setup; it’s more about the hands-on work. Usually, we have the radio playing low in the background while everyone focuses on their task. Most of the staff have been living in this area for years, so we all know each other well. We drink a lot of coffee to stay sharp, especially when there is a big order to finish. The street outside is always narrow and crowded with bikes, so getting things delivered requires a bit of maneuvering. It’s a simple life here, just focused on the leather and the neighborhood we’ve been part of for so long.
