You can find Palaniappa & Co. at No. 62 Sembudoss Street in the Parrys area of Chennai. Parrys is one of the oldest commercial hubs in the city, and Sembudoss Street has its own specific rhythm. It’s close to the port, so the air always has a bit of salt and humidity in it. Our office is in an old building that has seen a lot of history. We have high ceilings and heavy doors, and it stays surprisingly cool even when the sun is beating down on the street outside. We aren't a new company with modern furniture. Everything here is functional and a bit worn out. We handle a lot of trade and shipping things out from this spot. The traffic on the way to Parrys is always a challenge, but once you’re here, it’s a very familiar environment. We have staff who have been with us for twenty or thirty years. We don't have a big mission or a glossy brochure. We just open up early in the morning, check the orders, and start the day. Most of our business is built on long-standing relationships with other merchants in the area. We know the people at the tea stall and the other shop owners on the street. It’s a traditional way of doing business where your word matters more than a signed contract. We just keep doing what we’ve always done. It works for us.
