Our workshop is tucked away on Pattu Main Road, right behind the Mannarswamy Temple in the Mangadu area. It’s a quiet enough part of town compared to the city center. We spend most of our time here at Chennai Window Systems Pvt. Ltd. putting together frames and glass. It is a bit of a process, getting everything measured and cut just right. We started out small and stayed that way for a reason. Working with windows means you see a lot of different houses and buildings. We stay busy with the local projects mostly. The shop at number 38 is where all the cutting and assembly happens. It gets pretty loud when the saws are running. Sometimes it’s a bit messy with scraps of material lying around until we clean up at the end of the day. We don’t have a fancy showroom with air conditioning. Instead, you'll find us in our work clothes, probably moving some heavy glass around. The temple nearby is a good landmark if you're trying to find us for the first time. We try to be honest about how long things take. If a frame is going to be late, we just say so. People in Pattu seem to appreciate that straightforward way of doing things. It isn't a high-tech operation, just a lot of manual labor and making sure the seals are tight. We’ve been at this for a bit now and plan to stay.
