We’ve been here at Old Washermenpet for quite some time now, just up on the first floor of building 2/21. It’s a busy area and we mostly spend our days dealing with clothes and getting things sorted for customers who drop by. The stairs are a bit narrow, so you have to watch your step when you come up to see us. It isn’t some big fancy factory or anything like that. Just a bunch of us working with needles, thread, and fabric every morning till late. Sometimes the power goes out, but we just keep going as best as we can. Most people in the neighborhood know where we are because we’ve stayed in this same spot for years. We handle all sorts of garment work, from stitching to checking the final pieces before they go out. It gets a bit crowded with all the boxes around, but that’s just how a workshop looks when people are actually working. We don't have a big front desk or anything. You just walk in and someone will help you out with whatever you need. We try to keep things simple. Dealing with fashion in Chennai means it gets hot, but we have a couple of fans running. It’s just honest work we do here every day. Nothing more to it than that. If you are looking for the shop, look for the sign near the corner. We usually open up early before the traffic gets too bad.
