Joel International Import And Exports operates out of No. 1 Kaveri Street in Thirutanni Nagar, which is part of Old Pallavaram. It’s a bit of a quiet street compared to the main roads, which we actually like. Our office at No. 1 is where we handle all the details of importing and exporting various goods. It’s not a huge place, just a few rooms filled with desks, chairs, and stacks of shipping documents. We spend a lot of time on the computer or the phone, trying to track down where a container is or why a shipment is held up. Working in Old Pallavaram gives us a good base, and we’re close enough to the airport and the ports to make things work. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing department; we just rely on the work we do. Every day is a bit different—one day we’re dealing with a shipment of electronics and the next it might be something completely different. It can get a bit chaotic when several things happen at once, but we just take it one step at a time. The office can get pretty warm in the afternoon, so we usually have the windows open to get a bit of a breeze from Kaveri Street. We’re just normal people trying to run a business and keep things moving. We don’t try to sound like a big multinational; we’re just Joel International, working out of a small street in Thirutanni Nagar.
