The Chromepet area has always been known for the leather trade, and that is exactly where you will find us at No. 214. It is an old building and there is nothing particularly special to look at from the outside. We have been working with hides and skins for a very long time now. The heavy smell of leather is just a part of the air we breathe every day. It is not exactly a clean job. Your hands get stained and the work can be quite hard on your back after a few hours. We still use some old machines that seem to work much better than the newer models we see in catalogs. There is a small, dedicated group of us here every single morning. We like to start very early before the Chennai heat gets too intense to handle. By noon, the sun is really hitting the metal roof, but we just keep working through it. People often come by looking for small scraps or very specific types of leather for their own projects. We do not have a fancy showroom with lights. Everything is just stacked up in piles where we can find a bit of space. If you are looking for our number, 214, it is right there on the main stretch of the road.
