Munawara Leathers has been around on M. V. Badran Street for a while now. Periamet is the kind of place where you can smell the leather as soon as you turn the corner from the main road. Our shop at No. 16/14 is pretty simple, nothing like the big malls you see popping up everywhere nowadays. We deal with hides and skins, mostly. It’s a dusty business, and your hands get dirty by the end of the day, but we like it. The street is narrow, so if a truck is unloading, nobody else can pass through for a bit. That's just how it is here in this part of town. We spend our days checking the quality of the leather and talking to the craftsmen who come in looking for specific pieces for their projects. It’s not a quiet job. There’s always someone shouting or a bike horn honking outside the door. We aren't trying to be the biggest name in the city, we just want to provide what our customers ask for. A lot of the people who come here have been buying from us for years, so we know their families and how they like their stuff processed. We keep our records in big ledgers and try to stay organized, even when the shop gets crowded with rolls of leather. It’s hard work, and the heat in the summer can be a bit much, but we’ve got a good fan and plenty of water. We just keep at it, day in and day out.
