Our office for Metro India Exports Pvt. Ltd. is up on the 2nd floor at 84/39 Perianna Maistry St. in Periamet. If you know Periamet, you know how busy the streets are. It’s a lot of narrow lanes and people moving goods. Being on the second floor helps us get away from some of the street noise, but it’s still pretty lively. We have to carry everything up the stairs, which keeps us fit, I suppose. The space is a bit cramped because we have so many samples and records tucked away in every corner. We’ve been at this address for a long time. The building is old, with high ceilings and those big windows that let in a lot of light but also a lot of dust. We don't have fancy furniture. We use what we’ve had for years. It’s a practical place for an export business. We spend most of our time on the computer or talking to suppliers. Sometimes the internet is slow and we all just sit around waiting for it to come back. It’s not perfect, but it’s our workplace. We know the chai wallah downstairs really well. He brings us tea twice a day. Working at Perianna Maistry St. has its challenges, like the traffic, but we’ve made a home for the business here. We usually close up around six and join the crowd heading home. It's a long day, but we are back at it again the next morning.
