Mepcrete-AAC Blocks

We are over at Unit No. 26 and 27 on Poonamalle High Road in Periamet. It is part of the Metal Powder Company setup. Our main thing here is making AAC blocks. If you have not seen them before they are those lightweight blocks used for building walls. They are much easier to carry than the old heavy clay bricks which the workers appreciate. The yard gets pretty full of stacked blocks waiting to be loaded onto the trucks for delivery. Periamet is a very busy part of town so getting the trucks in and out can be a bit of a squeeze sometimes. We have a routine that we stick to every morning to get the production line going. It involves a lot of mixing and pouring and then letting the blocks set just right. If the mix is off the blocks are no good so we keep a close eye on the machinery. It gets quite hot near the autoclaves especially during the middle of the day in summer. We do not have any fancy brochures to show people. Most folks who buy from us know what they are looking for already. We just focus on making sure the blocks are the right size and strength for the job. We have been here at this unit for a while and have seen the road change quite a bit over the years. It is a lot of hard work and dust but it is our living.
