Mehta Saree Centre

If you find yourself in the Sowcarpet area, specifically on Perianaiyakaran Street, you might have passed by our shop. We are located at number 11, right on the ground floor so you don't have to climb any stairs. Mehta Saree Centre has been part of this neighborhood for a long time. It’s a typical local shop. We spend our days unfolding and folding sarees, showing different colors and patterns to anyone who stops by. The space isn't huge, but we make the most of it by stacking the boxes high. It gets quite lively in here during the festival seasons. We aren't big on fancy talk or complicated systems. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the regulars to drop in. Sometimes people just come in to chat for a minute while they're out doing their shopping. We keep a variety of stuff because everyone has different tastes, and you never know what someone might be looking for on a Tuesday afternoon. Being on the ground floor makes it easy for the older folks to come in too. We’ve seen the street change a lot over the years, but our little corner remains pretty much the same. It’s just us doing what we know, dealing in sarees and keeping things simple for everyone involved. It works for us and we just like being here in the mix of the market. That's really all there is to our daily routine.
