Maideen Leathers

You can find Maideen Leathers on the first floor of building number 23 on Perianna Maistry Street. If you’re familiar with the Periamet area, you know it’s the main spot for anything to do with leather. Our street is always busy with people moving hides and finished goods back and forth. To get to us, you have to go up a narrow set of stairs that can be a bit dark if the bulb is out. Once you’re inside, the whole place smells like raw leather and polish, which is a scent we’ve grown to love over the years. We aren't a fancy showroom with glass cases. It's more of a workshop and a storage space. We have piles of different leathers stacked against the walls, from thick cowhide to softer skins. Most of our work involves checking the quality of these pieces before they go out to the manufacturers. My nephew helps me with the lifting and the counting. We have an old wooden desk where we sit to talk to customers and drink our coffee. The windows stay open to let the air in, so you can always hear the shouting and the horns from the street below. It’s a bit chaotic, but it’s how business is done in Periamet. We’ve been at this same spot for a long time and don't plan on moving anywhere else soon.
