Madras Christian College

Our campus at Madras Christian College has been sitting here on Velachery Main Road for a very long time. If you’ve ever been to East Tambaram, you know how busy it gets outside our gates. The traffic in Chennai is always humming, but once you step inside, it feels a bit different. We have these massive old trees and lots of green space that you don't really find in the middle of the city anymore. Most of us who work here have a specific routine, whether it’s maintaining the old stone buildings or helping students find their way to their departments. It’s a big place, and it takes a while to get from one end to the other. You see students from all over India walking around, carrying their bags and talking about their next class. The weather in Tamil Nadu can be tough, especially in the summer, but the shade from the trees makes it manageable. We don't spend much time on fancy talk; we just focus on keeping the place running. There’s always a roof that needs fixing or a path that needs clearing. It feels like a small town inside a big city. We’ve seen many generations pass through these halls, and while the city around Tambaram has changed a lot, the daily rhythm here stays pretty much the same. We just keep showing up and doing the work.
