You can find us over at Plot Number 87 in Thirumalai Nagar. We are on the first floor, so you have to walk up those narrow stairs at the side of the building. It’s on 4th Cross Street in Perungudi, which is a part of Chennai that has grown so fast lately. Even though the name says Global, we are very much a local setup here. There are piles of colorful fabrics everywhere, which I guess is why the name fits. It gets a bit cramped when a new shipment of cloth arrives, but we manage to shift things around to make space. The light in the afternoons is quite nice in the front room where we do most of the packing. We don’t really have any fancy decorations on the walls, just some calendars and a few old photos. Most of the staff has been here for years, so we all know how the others like their coffee. The street outside can get a bit flooded when it rains heavily, which is always a worry for the ground floor people, but being on the first floor helps us stay dry. We just focus on getting the work done and making sure the counts are right. It’s a busy life but we like the routine of it. Perungudi is loud, but inside the office, it's mostly just the sound of the scissors and people talking.
