Leelapalace

Our office is down in Chennai on Vivekananda Street, specifically at number 21. It’s a decent-sized place but it’s definitely not a palace. We use this space to manage a lot of the local operations and make sure everything is lined up for the guests and the staff. Working in Chennai means dealing with the humidity, so we’ve got some old air conditioners that hum along all day. The street outside can get pretty crowded with scooters and people going to work. We aren't a massive corporate headquarters with hundreds of desks. It’s a smaller team here, and we all know each other’s names. We spend a lot of time on the phone or looking at spreadsheets. It’s not very exciting, but it’s necessary to keep things running. We don't have a receptionist; if the bell rings, whoever is closest to the door goes to answer it. We like it that way because it keeps things simple and honest. Some of us have been here for years, while others are newer, but we all just get on with the job. We don't put on any airs or graces. It’s just a group of people in an office in Tamil Nadu trying to stay organized and get through the daily to-do list. We keep the lights on and the papers filed, day after day.
