Our main office is over on Mahatma Gandhi Road in Chennai, right there on the third floor of Paramount Plaza. It’s No. 47, in case you’re looking for the entrance. Working at Oriental Hotels Ltd. means we spend a lot of time dealing with the logistics of running places for people to stay. It’s not all fancy lobbies and room service from where we sit. Most of our day is spent handling paperwork, talking on the phone, and making sure the different departments are actually communicating. Chennai can be incredibly hot, so we’re pretty grateful for the office air conditioning most days. The office itself is functional. We’ve got desks, filing cabinets, and a lot of coffee cups lying around. It gets pretty frantic when there’s a big event coming up or if something goes wrong at one of the properties. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't. We’re just the team behind the scenes trying to keep the wheels turning. Sometimes the elevators in the plaza are slow, and the traffic on MG Road is a nightmare, but we show up and get through the tasks. It’s a lot of coordination and making sure the details don't get lost in the shuffle. We just work through our lists and try to stay organized in the middle of all the city chaos. It's a busy life here.
