Down here on 3rd Street in Nethaji Nagar, things stay pretty busy. We are at number 23, right in the heart of Jafferkhanpet. It’s a residential-feeling area but we’ve got our workspace set up here. Most of our days are spent working on smaller leather items. The kind of things people carry every day. We have a couple of old sewing machines that make a lot of noise. They’ve been with us for years and we know how to fix them when they act up. The space is filled with scraps of different colors. We try not to waste much. Our windows look out onto the street, so we see the school kids and the fruit sellers passing by. It’s a lively spot. We aren't a big corporation despite the 'Pvt Ltd' in the name. It’s just a small team of us doing the work. We keep our supplies in big plastic bins under the tables. The smell of glue and leather is always present. We eat our lunch together in the back room. It’s a simple setup. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. If the phone rings, whoever is closest picks it up. We just focus on making the items correctly. Sometimes we stay late when a big order needs to go out, but usually, we head home when the sun goes down. The streetlights come on and we lock up for the day.
