Glenn Martin Clothing Co. is located at No. 2 Amaneethiar Street in Sekkizhar Nagar, right here in Kundrathur. Our shop and workspace are pretty simple. We spend most of our time dealing with fabrics and sewing machines. The street outside is usually quiet, which is nice for getting work done without too much distraction. We started this because we wanted to make clothes that people around here could actually wear and afford. It’s not a high-fashion studio with bright lights and runways. It’s more of a place where you’ll find rolls of cloth leaning against the walls and scissors sitting on every table. We have a few tailors who have been with us for a long time. They know how to handle the machines better than anyone. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait around, but that’s just part of living in Kundrathur. We don’t really bother with big sales pitches or fancy labels. Most of the people who buy from us are neighbors or folks from the next town over. We keep track of everything in a big notebook instead of using fancy software. It works for us and keeps the overhead low. The building itself is an older one, but it stays fairly cool even in the summer heat. We like being on Amaneethiar Street because everyone knows everyone else. It feels like a real community business. We just take things one order at a time and try to stay organized through the busy weeks.
