Cauvery Traders

You can find Cauvery Traders at No. 81 on Kundrathur Road in Porur. If you know Porur, you know how packed Kundrathur Road can get. There’s always a lot of noise from the buses and the local market nearby. Our shop is right in the middle of all that. We’ve been here for a long time, and the place definitely shows its age, but it’s home to us. We trade in various goods, so the inventory is always changing. One day the back room might be full of one thing, and the next week it’s something else entirely. It’s a bit of a juggle keeping track of it all. We don't have a computer system that does everything for us; we still rely a lot on notebooks and memory. The local guys stop by for a chat or to see what we’ve got in stock. It’s a very casual environment. We don't wear uniforms or have fancy slogans. We just open the shutters in the morning, sweep the front, and get to work. Dealing with customers and suppliers takes up most of the day. Sometimes it’s stressful when a delivery is late or when the weather is bad, but that’s just part of the trading business. We take it as it comes. It’s a noisy, busy, dusty life on Kundrathur Road, but we wouldn't know what to do with ourselves if it was quiet. We just keep things simple and try to be honest.
