S. K. P. Silks Sarees

Our shop is at 40/41 Sundaram Street in the Kosapalayam area of Arni. Arni is famous for silk, and we are just one of the many places here doing this work. We focus on silk sarees. When you walk into our place, you see a lot of bright colors. It’s not a fancy boutique with air conditioning and soft music. It’s more of a traditional setup where the focus is on the sarees themselves. We have racks and counters where we lay the silk out. The lighting is bright so we can see the patterns clearly. Sometimes the street outside is quiet, and other times it’s full of people moving through Kosapalayam. We have a few regular helpers who have been with us for years. We spend the day folding, checking the weave, and talking to people who come in. There is a lot of history in Arni silk, and we try to just keep doing what we’ve been taught. We don’t do big marketing campaigns. We just stay here on Sundaram Street and let the work speak for itself. It can be long hours, especially when there’s a lot of demand, but it’s what we do. The smell of the silk and the way it feels is just part of our daily life now. It's a plain, honest shop that’s been around for quite a bit.
