That’s where Keerrtthanaa Handlooms Private Limited is located, specifically on the 3rd floor at 40B. Getting up there can be a bit of a climb, especially on the hotter days when the air doesn't move much in these old buildings. This area of Chennai is famous for its history with cloth and weaving, and we are right in the thick of it. The street outside, Balu Mudali Street, is always packed with people, carts, and motorbikes. Inside our space, things are a bit more organized, though we always seem to have stacks of handloom fabrics taking up every available corner. You can smell the cotton and the dyes sometimes. We don't have a big fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s mostly just a workspace where we manage the production side of things. Our team is small, mostly people who have been around the textile trade for years. We spend our time talking to weavers and checking on the progress of different batches. It’s a lot of manual work and keeping track of things by hand. The office isn't very modern, but it’s right where it needs to be for this kind of business. We’ve got old ceiling fans that click while they spin and windows that look out over the crowded rooftops of the neighborhood.
