Kannan Engineering

Kannan Engineering is tucked away on Kambar Street in Srinivasa Nagar. If you know Padi, you know it can get pretty crowded with all the trucks and workers. Our shop is at No. 30. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze sometimes when we have a lot of heavy parts lying around the floor, but we manage. We spend most of the morning getting the machines warmed up and checking the job lists for the day. It gets very hot in the afternoons, so we keep the ceiling fans running at full speed. There’s a small tea stall just around the corner where we usually go to stretch our legs. The street outside is usually busy with people going to work or coming back from the factories. We’ve been in this spot for a decent amount of time now. It’s mostly about fixing things and making sure the metalwork is solid. We don’t have a big office or anything fancy, just a small desk in the corner with a lot of papers and maybe a half-eaten lunch. Sometimes the neighbors come by to chat or borrow a tool while we’re working. It’s that kind of place. We don’t really do much advertising or anything like that. People just find us or hear about us from someone else in the neighborhood who had some work done. Engineering is just what we do every day. It’s noisy and there’s always oil on someone’s hands, but that’s the job we know.
