Jute Emporium

Jute Emporium is located right on T.T.K. Road, just across from the Royal Shoppe in Alwarpet. It is a very busy part of town, so there are always people walking past the windows. We have a lot of jute bags and rolls of fabric stacked up inside the shop. The smell of the jute is the first thing you will notice when you walk in. It is a very earthy smell and it takes a little bit of getting used to if you are new. We have been in this spot for a good while. The shop itself is not very large, so we have to be quite careful about how we pile things up so they do not fall over. We do not have a website or anything like that. Most of our regulars are just people from the neighborhood who have been coming to see us for years. They might need a bag for their groceries or some raw fabric for a craft project, and they know we are usually here. It gets very hot in Chennai, so we keep the ceiling fans going all day long. Sometimes we sit on stools out front when the shop is a bit quiet. It is a very simple setup. We do not do big sales or fancy promotions. We just open up in the morning, sweep the floor, and wait for the customers to come in. The shelves are made of wood and are a bit old.
