J K Fashions Private Limited is tucked away in the Sidco Industrial Estate at No. A-4 in Villivakkam. If you’re familiar with the Villivakkam Sidco Industrial Estate, you know it’s a place where a lot of heavy work gets done. We’re near the main part of the estate, so there’s always the sound of machinery and vehicles coming through. It’s a practical place to be. We don't have a big storefront for people to browse. Instead, we have a large workspace that’s mostly filled with the tools of our trade and rows of garments waiting to be shipped out. The ceilings are high, which is nice when it gets hot in the summer. We spend a lot of time on our feet here. The floor is usually covered with plastic bags or cardboard boxes depending on what day it is. It’s an industrial area, so there’s plenty of dust, and we’re always wiping things down. Most of the folks who work here have been with us for a while, so we have a good flow going. We drink our tea standing up or sitting on the edge of the packing tables during the short breaks. It’s just the way the day goes in Villivakkam. We focus on the tasks at hand and don’t worry much about anything else. It’s a busy life, but it’s what we know and we have been doing it for years now without much fuss. We just keep our heads down and work.
