Our office is located in the Dhun Building at number 827 on Anna Salai. It is a very well-known street in Chennai, and we have been in this building for quite a long time. Working at India Cements Ltd. is a lot about managing the supply of cement to different construction sites and dealers. We spend our days on the phone and dealing with a lot of paperwork. Anna Salai is always busy with traffic, so there is a constant hum of engines outside our windows. The office itself is functional. We have desks, computers, and files everywhere. We aren't here to look fancy; we are here to make sure the cement gets to where it needs to go. Most of the staff has been here for years, so we all know how the system works. We don't spend time on big speeches or marketing slogans. We just focus on the orders and the transport schedules. Sometimes the elevators in the building are slow, and the heat outside is intense, but we just keep at it. It is steady work. We talk to people from all over the region who are building everything from small houses to big bridges. We just provide the material they need. It is a practical business that keeps the city growing. We take our lunch breaks together and then get back to the logs and the delivery charts. It is a long day.
