Iit Madras

Our spot is located in Quarter No G 4 12 on the IIT Madras campus in Chennai. If you have ever been here, you know it is like living in a forest in the middle of a big city. We have deer and monkeys wandering past the door almost every day, which is something you just get used to after a while. The quarters are old-style houses with high ceilings and heavy fans that spin around to keep the Chennai heat at bay. It is very quiet in this part of the campus, away from the main gates and the heavy traffic of the city outside. We keep our workspace pretty basic with a couple of desks and some bookshelves that are starting to sag under the weight of old textbooks. Life here moves at its own pace. We spend our mornings drinking tea and looking out at the trees before getting down to whatever needs doing. The address is 600036, and we have lived in this patch of green for long enough that the local delivery guys do not even need to ask for directions anymore. There is no fancy office setup or glass walls here. Just a regular campus house where we do our bit of work and enjoy the shade. It is a peaceful way to live, even if the monkeys sometimes steal things left on the porch.
