Hotel Mehra

Hotel Mehra is located at No 17/9 on Big Street in Triplicane. We are right opposite the mosque. Chennai can be very crowded, and Triplicane is one of the busiest parts. There is always noise from the street—horns, people talking, and the calls to prayer from across the road. It’s a lively place to be. The zip code is 600005. The building itself is quite old. We have stairs that are a bit steep, so it takes some effort to get luggage up if you’re on the higher floors. We try to help out when we can. The rooms are small but they have what you need. We use a lot of white paint to try and keep things looking bright, even though the sun doesn't always reach the lower windows. We get a lot of regulars who come to this part of Chennai for the markets or the local sights. Most people know us because of the big sign on Big Street. We don't have a lot of staff, just a couple of us who take turns watching the door. Sometimes we sit outside on the steps when it’s quiet. We don’t offer much in the way of extras. It’s just a room to sleep in. We wash the sheets ourselves and hang them up to dry where we can. It’s just a local spot for people who need a place to stay while they are in town for whatever reason they have.
