Hong Kong Kid Leathers

We are tucked away on 4th Street in Barathi Nagar, right in the T. Nagar area. The shop is at number 6. Hong Kong Kid Leathers is what we call the place. We work with a lot of different types of leather here. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is that heavy smell of hides. It’s a strong scent, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We spend our days cutting, sorting, and checking the skins for any marks. T. Nagar is a busy part of town, but our little street stays a bit quieter than the main roads. We have a lot of regular customers who come to us when they need specific pieces for their projects. It isn't a large operation. Just a few of us making sure the leather is handled right. Sometimes the shipments arrive late and we have to stay late to get everything stored properly. The floors are usually covered in small scraps and dust. We try to keep it tidy, but it's hard when you're busy. We don't have any fancy displays. The leather just sits on shelves or in piles on the worktables. It’s a practical way of doing things. We just provide the materials people need. It’s been our way for a long time. Our hands are usually stained from the dyes, but that's just how it goes in this trade. We just keep doing what we know how to do.
