Himalayan Apparels

Our small shop, Himalayan Apparels, is at No. 9 in Tambaram. We are right near the local rashan shop, so there are always people hanging around outside. It’s a simple place. We spend our days surrounded by piles of clothes and stacks of fabric. Most of what we do is just getting orders ready and making sure the sizes are right. It’s just a few of us working here. We don't have a big corporate structure or managers watching over us. We just know what needs to be done. Sometimes the sewing machines act up and we have to spend an hour fixing them. It’s a bit dusty with all the thread and cloth everywhere. We keep a small fan going to try and stay cool, but it doesn't do much in the afternoon heat. We aren't trying to be a famous brand. We just want to make decent clothes that people can actually wear. We talk to the people who stop by while they’re waiting for their groceries next door. It’s a nice way to spend the day. We don't use any fancy language or try to sell people things they don't need. If the clothes are good, people come back. That’s how it’s always worked for us. We just keep sewing and packing until it's time to lock up and head home. We usually keep some spare buttons in a jar for folks who lose them from their old shirts.
