Highmax Engineering

Our workshop is out at Plot 31 in Sun City, which is in the Kundrathur area of Chennai. It’s a bit of a drive out from the main city, but it’s quieter and gives us the space we need for the engineering stuff. We moved here because we needed a proper plot where we could set up the heavier equipment without being right on top of our neighbors. The building is basically a big open space with a small roofed area for the office work. Most of the time, the air is thick with the smell of metal and coolant. It gets incredibly hot here in the summer months, so we have a few big fans that don't do much more than push the warm air around. We work on a variety of mechanical projects, and there’s always something being welded or turned on the lathe. It’s not a place for clean clothes. Most of us end the day with grease on our hands and dirt on our shirts. We handle things as they come in, sometimes it’s a big order and sometimes it’s just a small fix for someone local. We don't have a big management team; we just talk to each other across the shop floor to get things sorted. It’s a practical, hands-on environment. We like being out here in Kanchipuram district because it feels a bit more relaxed than the middle of Chennai.
