Raipur Rotocast Ltd. is situated in the Guindy Industrial Estate, right at C-9 Thiru-Vi-Ka Estate. Being in an industrial hub like Guindy means we are surrounded by the constant hum of factories and the smell of hot metal. Our work involves rotocasting, which is a pretty gritty and heavy process. The floor of our workshop is made of thick concrete to handle the weight of the molds and the machinery. It is usually quite dark inside, lit by overhead lamps and the glow from the equipment. We all wear heavy work clothes because it gets very hot and dusty in there. There is nothing corporate about our setup. The office is just a small partitioned space with a filing cabinet that sticks and a phone that never seems to stop ringing. We spend our days managing the casting cycles and checking that the pieces come out right. It is noisy work, and we often have to shout to be heard over the machines. Outside, the estate is always busy with people moving crates and forklifts driving back and forth. Traffic in Guindy can be a real mess, so we try to get our deliveries out as early as possible. It is a tough environment but we have been doing it for a long time. We just focus on the manufacturing and leave the fancy talk to other people. It is a plain, hardworking business.
