Government Higher Secondary School Govindgarh

You can find this school over in Bharathidasan Nagar, which is in the Perungalathur area of Chennai. We are at No. 23, situated in a neighborhood that has grown a lot lately. Being a Government Higher Secondary School, we serve a lot of the families who have moved into the new developments nearby. The school building is your standard two-story affair with a courtyard in the middle. It’s not the newest place in the world, and you can see where the paint has faded over the years, but it’s where we do our work. Every morning, the sound of the prayer marks the start of the day, and then it’s just the hum of teachers talking and students answering back. We have a small library and some science labs that are used pretty heavily by the older kids. The students are generally good, though they can be a handful when the weather gets too hot and they just want to be outside playing. There’s a lot of walking back and forth between the different sections of the building throughout the day. We don't have a big marketing budget or a fancy sign out front. Most of our students come here because their siblings did or because we’re the closest option for them. It’s a place with a lot of history in the local community, and we just try to keep it going for the next generation.
