Government Higher Secondary School Basahari

Government Higher Secondary School Basahari is located at 2, Veera Anjenayalu Street in Sri Chakra Nagar. We are out in Mangadu, which feels a little quieter than the middle of Chennai but it is growing fast. The school sits on a decent bit of land. We have the main building where the older students have their classes and another section for the younger ones. It’s a government school, so things are kept simple. There is a lot of open space around us, which is nice for a change, though it gets quite dusty when the wind picks up. We have the typical daily routine of assembly, classes, and then the rush to get home. The classrooms are basic with some old posters on the walls and plenty of chalk for the boards. We don’t have much in the way of modern gadgets, but we have enough books to go around. The staff usually brings their own tiffin carriers for lunch, and we sit together in the small room near the office. Mangadu has a lot of temples and a lot of history, and the school has its own place in that. We just focus on the day-to-day things like marking attendance and making sure the kids understand their math and science. It’s a practical environment where we just do what we can with what we have. It isn't anything special to look at, but it serves the local families well enough.
